The first update on this car ......my first job was to remove the old rear lights as these were to far gone in my eyes and i already had a set from a previous car which were vertically brand new gave them a clean with some meguiars plast rx . Also i had some led indicator bulbs from the previous car so fitted them along with that i did the fog light clear lens mod to finish the job.

On to the next job ...which were the head lights the ones in the car when i brought it were terrible one was original one was a bad copy both were full of insects they were a mess also who never fitted the lights did not Aline the bumper correctly so new lights were in order brought some Depo xenon look headlight i had these before and can't fault them ..Also decided to replace the front grill to freshen things up.

Awesome mate!

How did you change the Ariel antenna to the shark fin? As I’m thinking of doing that too and would I need to buy a GPS harness to connect it with my rns 510?

Thanks

Many Thanks ...as for the Ariel antenna it’s pretty easy

Open the boot
Remove the centre roof trim just pull down on clips
Undo X2 10mm nuts each side of where the trim was to give you more access space
Gentle pull the roof lining down
Locate the Ariel base and remove the 22mm nut
Disconnect the wiring for the Ariel

If you are fitting a sharks fin everything in reverse as for the gps harness if you have not got one you will need one for the navigation to work, mine in a simple radio only,

Hope this helps ,,

Looks fantastic!

I'm going to be following this thread carefully!

I have a blue Mark 5 GTI but am thinking of getting Oryx or pearl White wrap - working out to be about 1300e plus VAT. We will see.

Can I ask for a steer on where you got the shark fin part please?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Deano, car's looking great! You've done a fair amount in such a short time, it's a good read!

I bought a second GTI and its tailpipes are literally cracking with the rust, so I would want to pick up some of those tailpipes to slot over. Do you have a link? Coudn't find ones on eBay that look exactly like yours.

Also, the front grill, did you go to VW or get one off eBay?

Thanks!
