heater noise/aircon
« on: May 30, 2020, 11:58:50 am »
So turn up the heater and it sounds like the car is revving/loud hum - not too bothered as heater works - now aircon has jacked

Is this a regas issue or is condenser gubbed

any help appreciated - stay safe

Is there a clicking noise coming from your heating system? Mine air con is knackered and makes a clicking/ticking sound. Had it checked and it’s the compressor. It’s been a nightmare trying to get one that fits to replace it

No clicking - just a "RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" (say it loudly)
I suspect my aircon was gubbed when i first heard the noise 2 weeks ago - but only just turned it on (not much call for it in Edinburgh!)
Why was it a nightmare mate ?
Any advice re part number etc (assuming my condensor fekked would be appreciated)

Psd Off as it looks an expensive fix - though has been a great motor in general - having considered a new car (golf r) I decided to keep the old girl. 57 plate 78k miles - so got her a complete respray and refurb alloys (even though i know i wont get the money back)
regards

I’m not sure then mate, it could be that something is trapped in the system?

It was a pain getting the correct part number for it, ended up buying 3 different ones, all of which didn’t fit. The mechanic I go to is going to order one brand new now instead. At least if that doesn’t fit it’s his fault not mine 😂

Out of curiosity, how much did it cost for a full respray? Thought about it myself but there’s 100k on mine so couldn’t justify spending £3000 on a paint job when the car isn’t worth much more!

£1200 is a very good price. Where did you have it done? I’ve always thought a full paint job would cost between 2-3k

RS Coachworks - they operate "underneath the arches" of the old train line - and there's about 3 all next to each other so they are keen for business - he keeps you up to date with pictures on whats app - when going in the bake room etc

I spotted a very minor blemish n he redid the whole wng that day

1000 + vat for cash Musnt gruumble - every ding sorted n' like new in vw paint
Really pleased with my alloys - using The wheel specialist at the Gyle Edinburgh £250 - 100 refunded for scratching my new paintwork (since sorted) - in black chrome - always hated oem wheels uncut - remind me of the colour i used 30 yrs ago with a spraycan
Like i say it was either that or shell bout 16/17k for a 5 yr old golf r (which i prob will in about 3 yrs)
