Carbon Canister
« on: May 10, 2020, 10:51:21 pm »
Hey guys,

So I've been getting the P0441 - EVAP Emission Contr.Sys.Incorrect Purge Flow Lower limit not reached fault since I picked up my GTI just less than two years ago. It's always been fairly intermittent, changed the N80 valve and that didn't fix it.

I'm now looking at replacing the carbon canister and see if that will fix the problem.

My question is though, has anyone gotten a non VAG canister from ebay or similar places and fixed the problem? Just not really wanting to shell out 100+ euro, and was hoping a non brand canister might have worked for someone else in the past?

Thanks!

When I had the same issue replacing the N80 valve fixed my problem.
I didn't think OEM canisters are as expensive as you say, I thought they were around £40 approx.
Non OEM from China are around £14 or try getting a 2nd hand one to try first, they are quick enough to fit so worth trying.

I changed mine for a non OEM canister and had no issues at all. eBay is your friend

One last question!

Is the connection at the back just a pull or a twist and pull?

Thanks

Just to update on this for anyone else that may be looking to replace their canister.

Swapped the old VW one out for this one from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07MV57FTH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Been a couple of weeks now and the code hasn't appeared once since, and the car seems to be idling better!

Thanks again for the helpful responses lads!
