DSG Launch control

Any tips on how to best get off the line this time of year. 

I had a practise today and tried it with the revs at the recommended level and even down at 1500
With the slight pause you get on the DSG and the slippy roads i could not get off the line without jogging on the spot

In that case i would perhaps press that long thin pedal on the right a tad less

Best tip I can give you TC, is not to even bother in this weather.. Waste of time mate.. I had the traction control light come on mine tonight at 85-90mph...   I $hit you not!!!   On my private runway of course..

I was thinking of just a normal start and instantly changing up to second what do ya reckon.

lol, you preparing for anything? maybe in a months time ?

yep, Id say give up in this weather   esp if you are mapped......
quickest you can get into 4th, you might start to make some progress up to the point the turbo spools lol

may also want to drop your tyre pressures   (when not on the road  )

I wouldn't even bother using LC in this weather. Just a standard start in D would get you off the mark faster in this weather as it gears up earlier and then once you are away use the paddles to gear up.

I near as dammit did LC in my manual ED30 today. On A34, had a leg cramp so stopped off on the parking bit. When it came to moving off, I hit 5k revs and then kept it in the 5-7k rev range throughout all the gear changes!

Fastest I've ever accelerated. Unfortunately TC light came on.

If it bothers you that much, turn off TC.

even im working on my starts
handbrake, revs at 3000, clutch burning away..

There's a school of thought that says you should slip the clutch in 1st and 2nd - not great for your clutch, but good for launching.

i.e. you hold it at say 2500rpm on the bite and then slip the clutch out slightly to control the wheel spin as you launch building the revs, once rolling you're golden. 2nd gear hold the bite again and you release rather than just side stepping it - smooth is fast.

Low pressure front tyres and high rears gives an edge too.
