Rattles etc
« on: March 10, 2010, 09:06:32 pm »
Well i am rapidly falling out of luv with the GTI. Ive had the car just over a week and the cat has developed a rattle from the n/s/r inner light unit. This is being replaced soon at my expense which i dont mind as i work for VW. This evening i pulled up at home and heard a strange kind of rattle. I had a listen around and found it to be coming from the fuel pump located under the rear bench. This is really dissapointing and i know i cant claim from VWAW for 1 month after purchase. So im going to get it checked out at work and if there is a fault present, im going to have call the dealer i bought it from and get them to pay for it. :fighting:  :fighting:

Welcome to mk5 ownership......

My car develops a new rattle every week. It's becoming an obsession stopping them all!

Its just so annoying. I do really like the car..............when its clean  . But its those blooming rattles and squeaks. The main rattle is the light unit which is going to be sorted. But now the fuel pump is noisey which may be normal, its not really noisey but there is a noise there. If there is a fault with this, should the selling dealer pay for this. The car was picked up by me 27/02/10.

I would say that if the fault would be covered by the warranty (assuming you were past your one month not being able to claim which seems very odd to me) then its something that the dealership should/would consider correcting.  Although having said that a noisy fuel pump if operating correctly might not be covered.

My car which is an '05 has alot of squeaks and rattles certainly more than the '02 focus I had before, I dont blame VW I blame the shoddy british roads, we all pay enough motoring related tax for them to keep the roads in good condition! :fighting:

..........the only thing that did rattle once was the top vent on the dash. Gentle smack  & never done it again. Bit like the old mk2 advert with the rattle that turned out to be the girlfriends ear ring.

Got an 05 too with all the rattles sorted.
Well it only had two. Passenger door handle screw and passenger seatbelt mechanism.
