Not So Big, Porsche Brake kit - Pad choice, need help!

regards the J Hook discs, what are they as a base product before any machining? How long would you expect them to last over normal discs?

I'm currently on my first set since the car was bought in 2008 (Brand New) and have covered 46k miles approx...

Are they worth the £295 price tag?

I think DaveB had a far better price than £295.

I can't say if they are good or bad (because there isn't an objective way of measuring) but I would definitely buy some new J Hooks as soon as these one wear out.
I have had the discs + pads for about 10000 km (6000 miles) with minimal wear. During this time I had about 280km (175 miles) of track (aka real intense use) and no issues.
After I bought them I started looking at disc shapes and I found out that the J Hook disc is used in motorsport (found many pictures and even saw many rally teams from our National Rally Championship using J Hook discs)

So I should take the plunge? I don't even know how much discs usually cost as I have never replaced the one's on my car... I assume this is a decent deal and would be a fool not to reap the benefits?

I had some 345mm off Dave Drilled and powder coated.  Around that price ^  Plenty left on them, worth the £ J - hooked @ that price sounds good

Are they a better upgrade to the r32/s3 setup

Will they fit under my pescaras?

Is there a better/bigger setup still in the porshe range? Like cayman or carrera?

You can go bigger but ive heared you loose some pedal feel and brake balance

White_Lady_170 I would definitely go for it. I think it is a very, very good setup. And I have immense confidence in DaveB.

1. Only the caliper and brake lines are different compared to stock. The disc size is the same. They still fit under 16 inch rims.
2. I haven't seen anybody objectively compare the NQSBBK to the R32 brakes. The weight advantage is clear for the NQSBBK's, but the R32 setup has a far better disc size. I went for the NQSBBK because I have 16inch alloys for winter and I didn't want to change them.
3. The caliper is bulkier so a spacer might be required depending on the rims.
4. The boxster calipers are the same as the cayman calipers and 996 Carrera 2. There are some other kits like the 997 Carrera but I guess it all comes down to the power your car has, the weight of your car and if you are tracking your car or not.
