Golf gti mk5 05 car warranty
« on: July 15, 2020, 12:40:01 pm »
Hi all
I was pondering whether to take out a car warranty to cover myself in case i had problems mainly with engine and dsg. Does anyone have one and can recommend a company that covers the above or is it not worth it?

I always think they're usually not worth it as there are usually so many clauses and things that aren't covered as to make them pointless. I'd rather keep the money and take my chances personally.

Thanks mate. I was thinking aling those lines too. I was just wondering if anyone had a policy with a company that actually cover the engine amd dsg but like you say the small print is usually the getnout clause for companies to avoid paying out if something did go wrong.

Warranties on a car that old will have a huge amount of 'wear and tear' get out clauses.  And even if they do cover something like the mechatronics pack, they will only contribute 'up to' a certain amount anyway.  A big con mate, steer clear.

When I bought mine from a dealer it had a warranty with it, within the first few days the ABS/TCS/TPMS lights came on, I phoned them and they said ABS sensors weren't covered (It needed hubs and sensors)

Waste of time.

Completely.

It's like warrantying yourself against weight gain. Utterly pointless.

The only warranty I've seen that's any good is the American 'bumper to bumper' warranty, but they're expensive, and don't exist in the UK.  I think pretty much every Range Rover owner in America has one

Watch Doug  DeMuro's YouTube episode on his Range Rover warranty, they ended up paying out more in repairs than he paid for the car!

Are 3rd party warranties available on 15 year old cars?
