Hi, my cambelt and waterpump were changed by a decent garage on Monday. This was done as the spindle on which the oil pump chain sprocket spins were almost completely sheared off and I needed a new oil pump. The oil, oil filter and pickup pipe were also changed. I got them to fit a VIS free wheeling oil pump sprocket at the same time. This sheared sprocket was found to be the case when I took the car in as the low oil pressure warning message appeared on my dash.
I have since driven 60 miles trouble free but have now seen the red oil can dashboard icon and the warning to shut off the engine message. Car has been back to the garage and they has mechanically measured the oil pressure which is fine. They saw the warning light appear when out in the car themselves. They are going to fit a new oil pressure sensor today, more in hope than in expectation though.
Is it worth me changing the camshaft position and engine speed sensors? I'm thinking in case one or both have somehow started misbehaving since the oil pump and cambelt work?
Any ideas why the warning appears so infrequently?
