MFSW issues.
« on: August 06, 2020, 08:10:46 am »
Need help! i have a 2005 MK5 GTI,
After checking part numbers on the car i found out that i already had the correct slip ring (1K0 959 653 C), so i got a new airbag loom
1K0 971 584 C from vw, & a control module from Ebay 1k0 953 549 CH, had it coded, everything worked BUT the steering is constantly heavy with the ESP & steering wheel light lite up in amber, drove the car a short distance but lights still didnt go out?
Am i not driving it long enough or has it been coded wrong?
The code i have put in is 0000104,
Car has from factory,
Manual box & rear wiper.has the trip buttons for fuel on the wiper stalk.
DOESNT have CC, DSG or any other additional equipment on it.
Please help, just want it working...

Just installed mine. Very easy to do. The hardest part was the adaptation of the G85 sensor.

Look at this: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(1K)_Brake_Electronics_(MK60)#Basic_Setting

My process was to follow the guidelines: drive straight under 20kmhs. Then get Coding II with the code 40168, then Basic Settings group 060. After doing this, my screen came up ERROR despite the guide saying it should say OK. went for another small drive then exited out of Basic Settings and the ESP and TPMS lights went out. Then I just had to drive and do some full lock turns to get the power steering to kick in.

Out of interest, which buttons did you go with? My menu button doesn't work on the right side - I went with the newer-style buttons.

Was coded with vcds,
I got hold of an Edition 30 steering wheel so not too sure?
Will give that a try.

It is a very fussy procedure and can take several attempts.

Yes mine took about 3 attempts before it all started working properly, but follow the guides and persevere! :driver:
