Rear panel crash

Hi, unfortunately today someone crashed into the rear of my mk5 gti whilst it was parked, and also whilst I was putting something in the boot. The rear quarter panel looks done in, and the rear offside wheel took the brunt so it looks bent. Whats the best way to go about this in terms of repair?

I can give it a new rear axle and rear section. But i don't know anything about the rear quarter panels.

If the car hit you up the rear sounds like its their fault did you get their details? I would inform your ins.  Claim off their ins.

The claim is in the process. But I've put alot of time and effort and money into my golf. I feel so gutted. Just seems now the more i look into it, repair and further insurance, the more everything says to break it and be done.

I was loving the front wheel drive feel. Ive been told s3's can be boring to drive compared to front wheel.I like the sound of an r32. I could also stick with a gti. What would be an upgrade for someone with a mk5 gti (k03 turbo). Just curious.

In terms of upgrading, maybe an edition 30 or go ko4 turbo if you want to stick with the mk5 gti

Sorry if im missing the point here but if the other car hit you whilst you was stationary then its their fault  so claim of their insurance and get your car repaired. It wont affect ypur insurance premiums and youll hsve your golf back ready to go

Its been classed as a write off. So if repaired my insurance will go up CAT s I think (don't know how much increase it will be for insurance) and ive been told its too costly to repair. Obviously. So its got 187k on the clock and payout is 2k, but theres not much on the market now thats at 2k.

The issue with insurers is they just want to close down the case as soon as possible, they will be encouraging you to write it off.
£2K sounds a quite mean - As a rule always decline their first offer.
Mainstream insurers don't like non-normal cars - speak to a specialist insurer like Flux

How bad is the bodywork?
If you can live with dented panels, buy back the Golf, and get busy with a used rear axle that can be had for less than £200

Someone hit the rear of my last gti 5 years ago, every years insurance up until the end of this year, ive had to pay more on my policy's.. even though it wasn't my fault!

Many times i've nearly submitted the forms with "no accidents in the past 5 years, even if its not your fault" button! Always ended up paying the extra in case i got caught out etc.
