Doylebros was right on the money it was the in tank fuel injector. Wish the first garage I took it to had diagnosed it correctly and saved me from wasting £250 on second hand injectors.

AwesomeGTi had the car diagnosed within 2 hours and fixed by the end of play. Best VAG specialist in the north west

not sure what you mean there "in tank fuel injector"
was it the fuel pump in the fuel tank?

Does anyone know if the 2004 mk 5 gt tdi 140 are the injectors coded? I had 2 golf mk 5 2004 gt tdi same year same engine i have a bad injector but took all the others out of the spare one i had so can i jist swap.all four injectors straight over?
