Induction kit

When I bought my Ed 30 I promised myself I’d keep it standard but the slippery slope began when I put a cat back BCS exhaust on!
I quite fancy a bit more induction noise but to be honest don’t want to spend megabucks, I’ve seen the ram air kit which seems reasonable enough.
I’ve got a stage 1 r-tech map on it, I’m aware they don’t add anything performance wise.
Is it worth bothering with?

Buy my Evoms intake lol! You'll get some gains and Darth Vader type noises coming from the bonnet. :laugh:

Any intake will allow a small bit more noise.
Is it worth it? Only you can answer that ???.
I personally think it's not worth it and wouldn't change the intake unless you go to a stage requiring the hpfp upgrade or a larger turbo. I ran a performance oem filter replacement in the filter box until I went K04. Also...I have seen results by a Tuner in an article meant to show the HP results after installing both a turbo-back and intake. The baseline average was established...then the Intake was installed and all pulls showed only zero to 4 HP on one pull. Then the Turbo-back was installed and again showed just zero mostly to 4 HP above baseline. This was done before loading a canned tune requiring the intake and at least a DP.

You will lose the engine cover if the RAMAIR is a full intake tube...which isn't completely a bad thing. Often the engine cover/filter box, is partly responsible for why the "fuel pressure regulator-N276" ends up broken on the HPFP. People removing and re-installing them carelessly causes the N276 connector to crack.

I have a few vids of me just driving around which you may want to listen to. I recall it was quieter some 11 years ago. Remember, mine has a K04 so it may produce more sound than an intake on the stock K03 with an intake: https://www.youtube.com/user/zoomdis/videos

Don’t think I could tolerate noise all the time, would just prefer something on boost really.

What about trying a drop-in filter element first? Pipercross, FK and K&N make them. Still wondering about the RAMAIR you might use...does it connect to the engine cover after removing the stock filter element, or is it the full intake tube?

Whilst it's not intake noise, have you done the pre-cat delete yet? That'll give you a deeper meatier sound plus earlier spool and a bit more power for negligible spend.

Au contraire mon ami...... they do actually free off a soupçon of power at the top end, from 5000rpm upwards.  A cheap ol' common or garden ham sandwich sponge on a pipe can free off around 10hp, whereas a more stoutly beef and horseradish fella can free off 15-20hp.   You need to be at stage 2, 2+ to see those kind of gains though.

I give you 3-4 months before you refit the OEM intake  :grin:   It's actually a really good design. Very short intake path.  Responsive, quiet and good for 300hp.  It's just an annoying fecker to remove.
