Front alloy arm upgrade
« on: September 06, 2020, 09:07:54 am »
Hi guys

I’m in the middle of a suspension refresh on my mk5 GTI, I have ALK and bushes ready to go, i then thought about upgrading the front arms to alloy ones from either S3/TT/B6.

I’ve already bought the ALK and front arm bush specifically for the mk5 GTI, are the bush sizes the same across the different arms above? Will the ALK and bushes bought to fit the mk5 also fit the S3/TT/B6 alloy arms?

Cheers

Yes they all those types of arm
Note: Passat arms are the same length as Mk5, TT are slightly longer - cant speak for S3 length

@LC5F

I’ve been offered some arms off a Passat tfsi, apparently it has the Mk6 gti platform although down sized to a 1.8  engine, the engine code is  cczb. I know nothing about the Passat platform or the 1.8, I just want to make sure they are in fact the alloy front arms I’m looking for before I commit, any advice would be appreciated!!

I'm no expert!
All I can say is Mk6 is pretty much Mk5 with facelift, if the info you have been told is correct they should fit  - search their PN and see what comes up

I believe the mk6 used different lca to mk5 in that they were pressed steel rather than stiffer cast ones we have, however I don’t know if the dimensions are the same. Again, a bit of googling the parts numbers of arms and bushes as suggested should give some reassurance.
