Battery Spec
« on: September 09, 2020, 08:10:32 am »
Guys my battery has finally died, not too bad as it's the original one it left the factory with 13 years ago.
Does anyone know the spec for replacement? Battery model etc?
Thanks
Max

I've used tayna.co.uk multiple times in the past, and have always had great packaging and delivery times and plenty of choice. They often have a voucher code floating around, or look them up on eBay if you prefer to purchase there. The type 096 is about the biggest battery you can fit in there.

or

I personally would stick with either Bosch, Varta (OEM) or Exide. The Duracell look nice, but I've never owned one or researched them, so can't comment on their performance. The Bosch Silver and Varta Silver are good performance/value.

I went with a Exide 067TE (77Ah) 4 years ago and it has performed well. It got a bit tired through not driving my car during lockdown, but has been fine since I gave it a 1 day refresh on the trickle charger. I think I'd go Varta Silver next time, just cos Varta are OEM.

Good luck

Stu

Hi the battery fitted has the following part number varta 1jo 915 105 AE
Tanya say it should be an E38 but when I type the above part number in it comes up as an E44, the difference being the height.
Mine is 175mm high which points to the E38.
Would they both have same part number for E38 and E44?
Thanks

Yeah, sorry I didn't get back sooner. When I ordered I also measured my old one; just to be sure. As far as I know all Golf mk5's can take the 190mm high battery, they tend to have higher capacity too, just because of the physically bigger size.

I hope it serves you well and happy to help.
