DSG Driveshafts
« on: September 12, 2020, 03:30:12 pm »
MOT looming in just over a month, started looking at known issues today-

Nearside inner CV gaiter had burst and I had been inside the outer one a few months ago and it did not look too good - opted to replace inner and outer CV's from J&R on Ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130737804008 - mine is a 2006 DSG Gti, listing suggests it is correct part.

When I got the shaft out and compared the inner CV its a completely different design:

Outer CV looks similar, but drive shaft bolt is completely different - supplied one has conical shoulder, my one is normal bolt with thick washer.

Part number label still visible gave me 1k0407271EE - from a quick trawl on ebay this seems to cover both DSG and manual driveshaft - is this the correct drive shaft for my DSG Gti or should it be the type J&R provided?

I found 1k0407271EE has been replaced with 3C0-407-271-AJ here in the US...and it isn't specifying it is for only one trans. So I would continue seeking verification. I do see the right axle does specify whether its trans is Auto or Man.
