Thinking of ditching my eibach ARBs ?

Im about to fit all my bits and bobs and i was thinking of ditching the ARBs as im not sure if they are needed on the golf. they will be paired with kws, walk, bushes and mounts.

What do you think, ditch or stick ? anyone else running eibachs ?

I first changed from stock to Eibach ARB's when I fitted KoniFSD's. I kept them when I later changed to VWR-KW-V3 coilovers.

ARB's are always going to help keep the car flatter and are an underrated and easily overlooked mod imo. I would only change them if I needed more adjustability (which I don't for 'fast road' use).

I've got some eibach ARBs waiting to be fitted - have you got brackets with your front one? I've only got the bar and the bushes assuming I could re-use the front brackets but when I went to get it fitted the old brackets were fixed to the OEM ARB  :confused:
I've been advised they need to be cut off an welded back on which seems a PITA!
Can ANYONE (RR!) confirm that they had to go through the same to fit their front eibach ARB?
I'm getting it fitted tomorrow so don't want to be cutting and welding unnecessarily.

The only situation i feel like im requiring ARBs at the moment is when i change from one direction to another quickly, the car feels abit unsettled. I cant help but think in the wet im going to be constantly searching for grip as the roll is vastly reduced

Obviously the KWs will help things without the ARBs.

Just wondering what settings you were running your eibachs on anyway ?

Personally I was looking for a neutral set up. If im honest, IMO, if im lifting off mid corner ive f*cked up somewhere so i dont want to have to correct oversteer aswell but at the same time when im pushing it i would like a little bit of mid corner adjustability aswell,

A big must for me is an improvement in understeer with the ARBs without it bringing on oversteer (can anyone answer this) if this is achievable ill fit them, If not does anyone want a brand new set for £250 delivered  :chicken:

Ive not opened the box yet but from what ive seen it looked like the rear was adjustable 3 ways and the front was fixed, Can anyone confirm this ?

....I didn't have to do any cutting or welding to fit mine. I don't quite understand which brackets you're referring to. I have stock Drop Links.

The brackets which fix around the bushes anf then bolt to the car.
When I took my old ARB off the original brackets are 'fixed' around the OEM bush and ARB. I was expecting to re-use them the same way I did on the back ARB but unless I cut them off then there is no way to re-use them.
Spoke to eibach UK and they said the MK5 kits don't come with brackets! That's why I'm confused  :confused:

Who fitted your ARBs? Could you ask them if they re-used the old brackets or if the kit came with new ones PLEASE!!  :happy2:

....Ray West (West Tuning, Thruxton) did mine over 4 years ago. I doubt he'd remember! I was with him while he did it and there definitely wasn't any welding.

We replaced the bushes at VWR not too long ago. The brackets just bolt - No welding etc.

Thanks Robin - I'll have to get the ARB off again and then see if we can 'break' the original brackets open and re-use them........
Strange because JKM also said you have to cut and weld the exisitng brackets... :confused:

....Now I'm confused. I definitely don't remember any welding but JKM know their onions. VWR are a bit tied up racing at the moment so I don't want to bother them.

Well the car's gone in today to have the Golf R calipers and discs fitted all round as well as the front ARB so I'll see what they report tomorrow......
