AC Issues

Guys, noticed AC was no longer blowing cold and had become noisy I took it to VRS who said it needed re-gassing.
I had it re-gassed and initially thought it was blowing cold again but during the recent hot weather I've realised it is not up to the job and feels like no AC is present just blowers.

Is it possible to re-gas incorrectly, I.e. should I go back to the garage who gassed it?

I hear people saying usual Mk5 No AC!!!!

What is the common fault with these systems or where should I start with trying to diagnose the fault?

With the age of the car these days it is a wear and tear item and would say your compressor needs replacing.

Dont get second hand ones as if moist gets inside them, they corrode......so always new for peace of mind with a new dryer.

Changed mine and the dryer last year as the original one was getting quite weak.....now a new one is in and ice cold again.

In my case the ac condenser was at fault. It’s located right behind the front grill so in direct firing line of bugs and road debris etc so takes a battering over time. Anyway new condenser fitted & now I have nice ice cold air con.

I’d personally get it pressure tested & scanned for any fault codes

OK Cozza I assume it was pressure tested prior to the recent re-gas?
I will hook up the diagnostics and see if anything is logged

Had a similar issue with mine when I first bought it.. turned out there was a leak at the high pressure sensor. Picked one up online, easy to change, re-gassed and as good as new.

It did throw up a fault code, so that would be the first place I would start.

Thanks rubdub I assume this is the G65 pressure sensor I've read about, I will scan it and take it from there!!

I would imagine so yes, however you may have developed a leak inbetween now and when it was last re-gassed if it is no longer blowing out cold air.

It was pretty much the next day I realised it was not functioning as it should so assume the gas was not the issue originally

In that case i’d take it back to the garage and ask them to diagnose further.

Anyone know the part number for the compressor?

There are a few versions.

You need to get under your car and take the model number off yours......then replace like for like.
