young (ish) Mk5 owners insurance

i did get a few quotes before putting some cash down on the car, does being an advanced driver make a difference? i have that with being a firfighter and ERD qualified

How many no claims did you have?

I'm a girl     But also had a full bike licence since I was 17... Not sure if that helps at all... first year paid £960, second year paid £840... but I do 10 month policies which are obviously cheaper but they still give you 1 years NCB

P.S. Had 1 years car no claims at 19 and put both my parents on as named drivers which brought it down quite a lot

Yep that could be why yours is much cheaper, they won't even give me a quote on a GT TDI never mind a GTI. Although I'm 19 and held my license 2 years.

I tried Greenlight, i had tried the compare websites and was getting back between 700-800, but greenlight have quoted 500......no brainer.

Bell has been the best for me on both my gtis...

 I had my mk5 gti just after I turned 18 now I'm 19 now with the mk6 on my own name with my parents as named drivers..

No 1 would touch me when I wanted a s3 or gti ed30..

It was 2,800 on my mums name with me n my dad as named drivers when I turned 19 it went down to 1,900… Then after a couple of months of being 19 I changed to my MK6 now my insurance is 2,400 on my own name with my folks as named drivers this is all with Bell.

I wouldnt advise doing this route though (as you did with the mk5) as insurance companies are much wiser to fronting now.

Because so many people have been doing it, insurers are aware that i you have a car with parents as named drivers and teenager as additional driver, it's likely the teen is the main driver. This can invalidate your insurance. Or they just won't insure you.

Thats why i said not to go the route you did with the mk5 as you were never really insured, not legally anyway.

Why wasn't I insured if I was a named driver?? 

When I got pulled it was all fine n when I was involved in a accident everything was fine...
