Gear Oil Leak...? help me diagnose what to fix
« on: September 19, 2020, 11:44:48 am »
Hi, Car just failed its MOT due to a gear oil leak. It was suggested it is the flange sea requiring drive shaft removal (However... I  inspected this morning I think it might be the bearing cover... Any suggestions or advice welcome.

Steam clean it so you can find the leak easier

Or brake cleaner as a more available option.

The garage reckoned they had cleaned it with brake cleaner. Doesn’t look like it. Appears to be seeping from the bottom of the cap. I’m thinking it might need a beer shim and the revised cap
