Wing mirror smashed

Some complete to**er on a country road decided to go past so close and fast wing mirrors touched.

Broken the indicator part.

can you buy spares or is it a new unit at great expense

Yes you can buy the indicator lens fitting seperately.

btw this may be a good opportunity to switch to the in-pro smoked ones.

£35 odd for a vw version. Replaced one of mine a couple of months ago.

is it best to remove the whole unit from the car to replace this item? the indicator almost looks like its glued in place though?

Need to also glue a couple of lugs back to the inside of the cover part. Any ideas on the best glue to use on this hard plastic?

You have to remove the whole mirror, it's not glued. It's held by a couple of torx screws. This is a good guide:

The most difficult bit is taking the mirror housing off, once this is done it's very easy.

Just back from the stealers, £17.50 plus vat for the indicator part, not too bad I thought. Glad they did parts for it, hate to think how much a whole unit would be.

Did notice they were selling the VW oil for the GTi for £38.00 & at a 5 litre quantitly, thought this was a good price?
