Hi all
After a few weeks happy ownership of my new Golf, I thought it was time to sort out the paintwork which had light swirls caused by previous owner’s sponge/carwash abuse. The detail took 2 days to do, sorry but I got that carried away I only have the after photo, next time I will do a step by step account.
Wash:-
Snow foamed with valet pro foam then jet washed
Door shuts cleaned with chemical guys degreaser and detailing brushed
Washed with chemical guys wash and gloss using 2 bucket method
Dried with miracle drying towel
Claying:-
Clayed with clean your car fine detailing clay and dodo juice born slippy as lube, great combination as the paint felt as rough as a spotty arse!!!
Polished:-
Machine polished using a kestrel DA, tried Menzerna 85RE and a Menzerna polishing pad, this didn’t really touch the swirls so tried Menzerna RD3.02 and a Menzerna Polishing pad. This combination worked a treat and offered 90% correction which I was more than happy with, I can’t believe how hard VW paint is!! I used spot pads for the tight spots, I will tackle the deeper defects at a later date with the S100 and refine with the 85RE, but that another day!
Wax:-
I put 2 coats of collinte 476 which is an excellent and very durable base wax, then one coat of chemical guys XXX Hardcore wax which I love as so easy to put on/off.
Wheels:-
Fresh from refurb so these got sealed with some collinte and tyres dressed with poorboys natural look dressing.
Windows/Trim:
Windows polished with autoglym glass polish and all the trim treated to poorboys natural look dressing
Exhaust:-
Brought back to life with autoglym metal polish and wire wool.
And here is the finished product:-
Cheers
