My first Sunday off in over a six weeks. I went to bed early last night and got up at 6am. The weather forecast was good and the sun was shining. I decided to give the car it's first scrub in
six months.
I wasn't planning on taking pictures (so no before/during shots) but I was so impressed that I fell in love with the car all over again. SteveP will attest to the filthiness of the car and this shot shows how bad it was:
The Process
Rinse down with pressure washer.
Two rounds of Snow Foam (Valet Pro) - the car was dirty enough for it!
(Really annoyed that I forgot to give the car a good dose of Meg's APC 1:4 at this point)
Wheels cleaned with Bilberry Wheel Cleaner and Swisswax-style brush
Two rounds of 2BM with DJ BTBM. Dried.
Meg's Smooth Surface's Clay bar with DJ Born Slippy as lube*
DJ Lime Prime Lite
1xLusso Oro Wax
Windows done with proper glass towel and Lusso Oro Window cleaner
AG Vinyl & Bumper car for plastic trim (this is crap but better than nothing**)
Ordinarily would use Meg's Tyre Gel stuff here but I was so impressed, I didn't want to wait for it to dry.
The entire thing took four hours. Enjoy.
^^^ Ignore the pipes in that shot. I couldn't find my autosol polish so gave a quick wipe down with WD40.
^^^ Can't believe how shiny the lower lip was.
Some reflection shots (the camera had problems focussing):
^^^ That last one was of the bonnet.
Can't wait until I get my weekends back and I can give the car a weekly wash.
* Does anyone know if this stuff is meant to 'foam'? When using it with the clay bar, it was like I was using something soapy, leaving behind trails of suds that dried when I wiped it up
** Any recommendations for black plastic trim?
