Fitting Black front grille badge
« on: March 19, 2010, 10:42:35 am »
I have bought a Black VW badge for the front of my GTI MK5 but cannot work out how to change it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Do you have to take the whole grille panel off and if so how? Thanks

If you push the badge in and turn anticlockwise, it should come off. The problem is that there's a good chance you'll break one of the securing lugs. Instead it's four screws and you can pull off the grille and change the badge without breaking anything.

Remember: if *I* can do it, so can you!

Thanks for that. Where are the 2 lower screws? I can see the ones at the top.

Thanks stealthwolf I have done it! I managed to just twist it off, easy when you know how. Black badge looks great. Does any one know where I can get a Black GTI badge for the front grille.

I got mine from dubstop intl. Something like £8 all in or something equally silly.

I got it on ebay from "goingfast" it cost about £15 and has a nice black chrome finish.

I painted mine. Cost £2.50 in wet & dry sandpaper project kit from Halfrauds and that was it.   :happy2:

There's two T25 (i think) screws when you open the bonnet, then there are two screws in the honeycomb under where the number plate sits, once you undo all four screws the panel comes off and you can replace the front emblem, GTI badge and even the red strip once you're done

I did black side mirrors, smoked indicators, yellow strip and blacked front emblem to have something a bit different

I really think the Pirelli should have come with a yellow stripe and yellow calipers to match the interior.

Maybe, so many plans at the moment. I just want to break up the silver a little bit, thinking of getting these wheels to go with it... still a bit unsure though

edit: in 5x112 obviously :P

They're OK, but I love the Pirelli wheels so personally I'd be sticking with them!
