Towing my dsg, help!!
« on: September 30, 2015, 07:40:58 pm »
Hi all, I need to tow my dag which has had a bhz engine conversion done to get it mapped, approximately 15 miles away although I'm hearing conflicting comments from friends saying it can't be done, the engine runs so could it be towed through with the engine ticking over in neutral or not? HELP!!

Can't you just drive it there?

Not meant to as the car still has the vw ecu in, until I get the Audi s3 file cloned onto the ecu I've been advised against driving it.

Not entirely sure, spoke to a few remap places in the area I live and was advised by more than one not to drive it,one of them was a revo tuner...

How hard would it be to get hold of a trailer?

Get breakdown people to tow it? Say its running really bad and you want it taken to garage of your choice. Probably need home-start on your policy

you cant tow it in neutral. you'll risk damage to the box as the pump wont be turning but the gears will be turnt by the wheels you'll need to tow it with the front wheels off the ground

Finally found someone who has a trailer to get it through, however I did ring up a gearbox specialist in Newcastle that informed me that an automatic car can actually be towed as long as the engine is running the gearbox is oil pumped around it as it should and cooled as it should.

It goes without saying how is important to get a high qualified help in time. I work in the truck company 5 year yet. It is so unpleasant when problems with your truck happen in the middle of road. So, I know that if you work in this sphere then you should always remember some useful companies who can always help you. I can recommend you tow truck company who provides tow service 24 hours a day. So, if you’ll need some help in the future, I think they will be ready to provide you their service. Once it happened, I was broke down on the road to England. I called this truck company and I could get their help quite fast and cheap. I know that this company will never leave me with a broken vehicle on the road.
