Mk5 Golf GTi manual conversion to DSG
« on: October 26, 2020, 04:04:39 pm »
Hiya Guys

So the new race car is a Mk5 GTi cup BUT it has manual and we want to convert it to DSG. The question is which box do I need to fit it. The current engine is a BWA. So I need to know

Which Box
Which Fly
Which Clutch

I think :)

All help appreciated..

They do indeed, but your post was somewhat vague, hence my flippant response

Anyway....

You need either an 02E DQ250 6 speed DSG from the MK5/6, or a 7 speed DQ500 DSG gearbox from the MK7.  The latter is more complicated electronically in terms of retrofit.

You will also need a supporting DSG engine ECU, pedals, console stick, paddles, steering wheel etc etc.

It's not an easy or cheap conversion.  You would be better off selling the manual car and buying a DSG in all honesty.

Just a heads up, the MK7 Golf was never actually equip with a DQ500 from factory. A common conversion for Stage 3 / Big power Golf R’s etc.

Gen2 DQ250 in MK7
DQ381 in MK7.5
DQ500 in RS3 / Tiguan / Transporter etc...
