All Things Mk5 > Mk5 General Area
Had a little thought!!
08micsta:
Quattro is a premium brand though. They cant call a car a quattro if its not a quattro.
Let me take a look at a few info sheets I have on the A3's. I may be incorrect.

08micsta:
My apologies...
I did some looking and in essence it seems we are both somewhat confused...
1. The Audi A3 Range uses quattro. Permanent 4 wheel drive according to the specs and pricing on the official Audi webpage:
Select the S3 Quattro in manual and go down to drivetrain.
http://www.audi.co.za/a3/
2. This link however suggests the opposite:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haldex
Scroll down to "vehicles with haldex".
Clearly Audi is fooling its consumer. I sure as hell would not buy a car branded as quattro if it is not. Talk about false advertising

and the haldex ecu
he's lookin for around £500 but make him an offer

^^ Hmm, the more I think about it, the more I think it won't work..
It may all just bolt on, but will an ED30 ECU know what to do with Hadlex, or all the other new sensors it's found? I'd love to be proved wrong, but there must be a good reason why I've never seen a conversion.
I think I just applied too much simplicity with comparisons to the likes of MKII's running Rallye 4WD, it's not that easy any more.
Hurdy:
I'm edging back towards a Quaife LSD to try it out before deciding. I may have to nick borrow Neil's car for a quick comparison. :happy2:
Otherwise I'll go 4WD in some form. :rolleye:
