Clutch
« on: November 03, 2020, 11:32:08 am »
The inevitable slipping clutch after a stage one is starting.
Will a new standard clutch deal with the added power or do I need an uprated one?
I don't plan any more tuning.

How many miles on your clutch?

I'm still waiting for mine to start slipping, had remap at 70k, now done 80k, still no slipping. Original clutch too I believe.

Around 97,000 so probably original clutch.
It was only doing it in 5 and 6th when booting it but is getting slowly worse!

It won't get better unfortunately

When mine goes I will just fit another standard clutch + DMF.

If you want something uprated I would go for Helix.

Thanks, but I'm surprised no one on here knows the answer or is it well known to those who know and how dare anyone actually ask such a silly question?
Forums you got to love them

I bet it's been covered many times if you search mate.

You've only got two choices really, stock or something like Helix.

A new standard clutch will cope with the TORQUE but it's lifespan will be reduced, an uprated clutch will cope better and therefore last longer. Happy now?

If it’s inevitable then you should know the answer?’

Forgot to mention condescending.
Forums are there for people to keep asking the same questions over and over again looking for a quick and easy answer from those that know, even if it is tedious for them.
The search function doesn't work.

If you use Google, just add "site mk5 golf gti.co.uk" to your search terms.

Then you will only get results from this website. There is a lot of info built up on here from what the 11-12 years?? It's been going.

Sadly all the forums I use and have done for 10 years or more (some nearly 20!) are all quiet, I blame Faceache!

Are you for real?

Forums are a community and an information resource. They’re not there to be on your beck and call because you’re too f’cking lazy to do your own research. A lot of people go to a lot of effort in their DIY guides etc and for you to be an entitled little f’cking snowflake like that is a big slap in the face for those who devote their time and effort to this place.

No wonder forums get quiet.

Woah mate, you have no idea what I'm like, certainly not a snowflake so don't f*ckin' insult me because I was looking for a quick answer. Dick.
