Thinking about an Edition 30?
« on: March 20, 2010, 08:45:48 pm »
Hi all,

Joined a while ago when I owned a Steel Grey MK5 R32. Didn't post much just browsed.

I sold the R32 back in November and currently driving a MK4 GTI 180... but I'm yearning for BHP again...

I was thinking about a Candy White ED30, my plans would be to make it a mild street racer project... semi stripped inside with Recaro buckets, KW coilovers, lighter wheels and tuning the engine. I believe 300bhp (or near enough) is achievable with just a REVO Stage 1... but how hard is 350bhp to achieve? And how much?

Appreciate the advice

Thanks

George

Welcome, seem's as though you've got the same intentions as what Jonnyc had. I'd recommend having a read through his epic build thread for ideas.

Luke.
If you have to ask why, you'll never understand.

I've read his thread several times for both the ED30 and the S3, it amazes me.

I won't be looking to go as serious as him. I should have put my question across better, what is achievable with the standard K04 turbo and keeping reliability and ease of use near to standard. I don't want to be having to use 99 octane and water meth for example.

Just read about the Stage 2+ and that looks the ticket.

I've been driving my bosses automatic Volvo XC90 recently:

and can't help to think I'd like my next car to be automatic, preferably DSG...

How would the ED30 cope with this? I know REVO do DSG software. I just like the idea of the easy relaxed driving when commuting, and then the fast gear changes when having fun.

Any cars on here running Stage 2+ with uprated HPFP?
