Up to date brake upgrade advice
« on: June 14, 2020, 04:36:19 pm »
Hi guys,
Just bought a Mk5 GTI and wanted to upgrade the brakes as this will also be a track day car, (modified to stage 2 possibly).  Tried to read lots of forum posts but they all seem quite old from 2014-2017.  S3/R32 system seems popular but heavy, 340mm Boxster combo is not now recommended for almost any reasonable use on the vagbremtechnic site, also cost is a limiting factor, so looked at SF-Tuning Brembo set up whichwould come in around £1000.  Anyone used this set up or are there better alternatives for the same cost.  All advice gratefully received

I've got the Boxster calipes with braided lines and ferodo ds2500 pads and stock size discs. Really good set up and the calipers were about £150 from ebay. You can fit larger diameter discs if you want. My car has never been on a track so can't comment on how it would perform on one.

Thanks for the reply. Do the calipers bolt straight on with standard size discs or do you have adaptor plates.  Wonder how they would stand up at Cadwell?
