Darren

I think what emerged from the recent Briskoda issue was that VCDS needs to have a valid dealer code, i have seen this on a couple of things lately.  When VCDS is set to default it will leave the dealer code untouched but if you get a new device which doesn't have a dealer code then that's when the problem arises.

VrStu, yes Darren has stupidly agreed to help me with this  :happy2: (as If I wasn't causing you enough problems with the MFSW at present).

The car in question is a March 2005, and the replacement clocks have a manufacture date of Jan 2005 (from the sticker). Do you think we should be OK ?

I see no reason why not.  There is a procedure to follow which also involves recording the servicing details etc from the old dash insert and transferring them to the new.  You'll also need both SKC's.

Thanks Stu Ive got an excellent workthrough that is on vortex, the one that maloosheck has wrote in the DIY section so should be fine,  Stu may I ask what you use to obtain the SKC? Ive got Vag Commander 5.1  which got the SKC off of my own cluster so that should be fine aswell??

Thanks

I don't normally need to extract SKC's as new clusters come with an SKC.  I do have a similar tool to yourself though.

Stu,

I think I read somewhere on your Skoda site (concerning pairing new keys) that you said the SKC was on a sticker on the plastic key tab.

I've found my original key tab and it has a 6 or 7 digit number starting with W on one side (which I guess is the suppplying dealer code ?), and on the other a smaller sticker with a 5 digit number starting with a 0 i.e. 04321 (not my code BTW). Is this the SKC or something else ?

Skoda issue the SKC's as a 4 digit which then requires you to add a 0 to the code before use so it is actually 5 digit.  Would that tie in with your code?

The longer number is usually the last digits of the Chassis number.

Hi, got directed to this thread by someone on http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/

I'm a bit lost with what's going on with my car but I've ended up with a 08 car without highline (though I specced it with it) and I've got a friend at a dealer who got me a highline dash from VW. He can't get the dash to code to my car and he thinks it's because my car has immobiliser 5 but the dash is for immobilser 4. Does that make sense to anyone and is there any way for him to get round that? I've read all the previous posts but I'm lost with all the chat about "VCDS" and "SKC"

Cheers

JPC,

I think the problem lies in the 8th Letter of your last post - "Dealer"

yep true! but youd think, if someones clock broke somehow, they'd be able to replace it. and code it.

if this guy has the right part, it should be no more complicated than replacing a damaged clock, like for like
