Cold start on Eddy not working?!
« on: December 03, 2020, 03:10:58 pm »
Hi guys, recently I've noticed my Eddy 30, in cold weather, is not holding the revs on a cold start. It starts fine and within a second or 2 drops the revs to normal idle speed. Is it something to worry about, any sensors not working anymore maybe. Any ideas?

Thanks

If you mean a prolonged fast idle, perfectly normal.  Idle speed is tied into the HVAC, ambient temp, coolant temp, air intake/MAF temp and EGR routines.  Depending on conditions, idle can be anywhere from 1100 to 900rpm upon cold startup.

What isn't normal is is sluggish, lumpy starting, misfiring and rough running from cold.

Ignore the idle speed.  If it's smooth and drivable, it's doing what it's programmed to  :happy2:

Thanks buddy for the reply  :happy2: yes you're right. It was to do with the ambient temperature, the car was disabling it when ambient temps were below 5°. Something I read on another forum about vw having this setting in place to prevent piston wear in extreme cold conditions. Maybe, maybe not.
