Cam Phase Position Block 93

So today I decided to check the Phase Position Bank 1 using VCDS Block 93 to try to gauge how much chain stretch there was, I was surprised by the results -1KW when cold, 0KW when hot. The car has 151k on the clock and no evidence of any timing chain work ever being done.

Are these values normal? Is there anything to be concerned about?

I have the same mileage, never had chain done, same results from 093 and same concern.

You need to do that check with the VVT solenoid (N205) unplugged.  The cam phaser has a quite a large adjustment range and will auto adjust to take up any slack.

What was the duty cycle on N205 to achieve 0KW? 

An engine with a new chain will run a much smaller duty cycle to hover around 0KW than one with a worn out chain.  Unfortunately, the chain tensioner will eventually run out of piston travel and you'll run into problems.  You can inspect that if you remove the vacuum pump (not a bad idea to get an O ring kit for that anyway) and look through the hole.  If the piston looks massively extended - put money aside for a chain job.

Having said that, if the valvetrain is quiet and blocks 91/92 track as expected, I wouldn't worry about it.  The acceptable range for the static cam/crank correlation is 0 to -4KW. 

When you start seeing -6KW or higher, the chain is on borrowed time.
