Fault finding detectives required - fixed
« on: April 04, 2010, 12:37:24 pm »
All. I posted in the troubleshooting section but I need a bit more help.

My flick wipe is not working.
front screen wash is not working.
Headlight wash is not working.

Wipers back and front are fine.
Rear screen wash is ok

everything else is in order.

On reflection this happened on a long drive, I was reflecting on the mpg thread and tried turning off the heated wing mirrors I think at that point the mfd2 reset and the blower gave a puff.

Soo,... Thinking fuses but....

Checked fuses all seem ok. Though can't see any on the passenger side.

Hmm...nope I think the wipers would not work if the bonnet microswitch was indicating open circuit.

i dont have vcds no...

Ive searched around and there appears to have been a few that have fuse 36 blown, a 20amp yellow fuse on the drivers side but mine are intact.

the pump makes no sound when i pull the stalk towards me.

the pump successfully feeds the rear screen and works away quite merrily.

I am thinking that the rear and the front must be on a secondary electrical circuit, however I cannot find any mention within the handbook.

If anyone knows how to get into the fuses on the passenger side i would be greatful, i can get the plastic cover off (as drivers side) but there are no fuses visible...

Trying to avoid a visit to the indy, I am skint this month already :-(

Tried looking at this... im thinking now its a relay fault...prolly J39? but no idea where this is. Bugger this is irksome.

Have you looked at the Tech workshop manuals on the Tech part of the forum?

ok....dont ask me how but the fault above has cleared itself!

The logic must have got screwed up somehow when I flicked the wing mirrors switch and at the same time the radio reset...thought it odd at the time.  No fuses blown....guess it just took a little time to sort itself out...how very zen.

Oh well, at least its working :-)
