Hi all,

Currently looking at a Mk5 Gti, have had MK1, Mk2 and Mk3 Gti's in the past. Stumbled across this forum and looks like a good place for info.

Car is an 08 plate 5 door in Tornado red with 18" wheels, full leather and couple other options with 20,000 miles on from a VW dealer.

Still havent driven one yet, they are getting it brought up for me. Are the MK5's good to drive? They let me take a Scirroco out as they are apparently similar to drive as the Golf, is this true as i thought that drove well?

Anything i need to look out for?

I know they are not the fastest hatches on the planet but im hoping handling might make up for it, as i intend to do trackdays in it as i have done with previous cars.

I needed something nippy, practical and nice looking. The Golf fits the bill.

Thanks in advance for help and advice.

Cheers
Chris

Welcome to the forum  :happy2:

I'm in the process of putting mine back to standard, and previously had fitted Bilstein coilovers and the WALK kit. To be honest, I've been pleasantly surprised just how good the handling is in standard form! Not huge amounts of bodyroll and it feels very composed and tight. You'll definitely enjoy the GTI!

You wont be upset with your choice mate!
An excellent all rounder.
Currently selling mine due to other commitments, but I'll be sticking with the Golf range though!
