Traction control and electrical issue
« on: December 19, 2020, 07:36:23 pm »
Hi Guys! i am new to the forum here. im all the way from south africa and have just finished my 500hp mk5 gti DSG. head is setup with a full rev kit from supertech, the bottom end received some forged internal love, CP pistons, pec i bean rods, ACL race bearings and ARP fasteners to tie everything up.

Heres a few problems.

i get an intermittent oil pressure light... I HAVE CHECKED EVERYTHING MECHANICAL... and have replace the sensor and still no luck with this issue sometimes it can be off for 2 days... hit a bump and it comes on.

next i cannot get my ESP to deactivate... checked switch and fuses and all is good but wont deactivate.

next problem now for some reason i cannot read the ecu with vcds... all this is clearly a wiring problem as that is where i worked IN THE ENGINE BAY what i want to find out is if anyone has had similar issues and what the findings are?

How are you getting on with this? From the OBD port the can wires go direct to the gateway, vcds talks to the gateway, the gate way allows can traffic to flow, if you get no comms with engine ecu check gateway DTCs and MVBs. On dash what does your esp do/not do? If the light on the button never lights up it’s more likely your esp is never on. Can you get comms with the ABS and Transmition? They are on same can as engine ecu. Oil pressure on some models is direct to cluster... check earths, trapped wires, plugs etc etc. If it worked before it should again!
