The time has finally come!
« on: March 26, 2010, 03:33:09 pm »
Hey all,

I have finally managed to book my car in for a spot of modifications by VWR :pomppomp:

Been a very busy year so far and have been putting this on hold for long enough now.  That, and a lot of patience with VWR to finally speak to Matt and book the car in.  So, would like some wise words for a newbie embarking on his voyage down the infamous slippery slope!

I have already fitted and run a blueflame turboback since december and am totally addicted to the noise - there is a noticeable increase in throttle response and i'm sure the car is slightly quicker off the mark.

So here are the plans:

VWR springs
VWR ARBs
WALK fittment
VWR Fast road engine mount

Now, I also want to have the car remapped and was initially thinking of having this done from VWR also.  I believe they supply the superchips remaps but wanted to know what the difference is between the VWR remap and a normal superchips remap, cos there is a difference in cost (is it just the addition of a VWR panel filter?)

Also, would I be better off just getting a superchips remap from elsewhere and fitting a carbonio air intake or go for the VWR remap (+ panel filter and whatever else there is - if anything)?  Does the carbonio intake come with its own filter?

Any advice would be mucho appreciated :happy2:

Ok, thanks for the info - didn't know they do revo.  Is it the same price (i.e. 510+VAT)?

I am paying a little extra going to VWR i think and travelling quite far, but it is the first time I'm doing anything like this and have heard a lot of good praise about their work so feel confident.  Only thing is i'll have to leave my car with them for a week because of the race season and them being busy.  Ah well, at least i'll have one of their cars while i wait :signLOL:

I have to say, it was very difficult to get through to Matt and this has tested my patience but glad I managed to get it booked in the end - cannit weit!!!

Gents,  Lets set the record straight,  VWR do cock up, just the same as any other workshop/tuner.  However, where VWR excel, is the attitude of Sam and Matt, and their wish to sort any problems out.

They are human just like all others, so mistakes do happen.  But their Drive to sort out problems is the best i have experienced.

I've been speaking to VWR over the last couple of days regarding getting some work done. Prices seem to be very competitive and Matt was very helpful and prompt with his responses.

VWR do the Revo maps now as Mat said.

No one is perfect and inevitably mistakes will happen - we are all human after all (I hope!), but what has attracted me is their level of advice and knowledge of the cars, also their attitude which has been spot on (whenever i've been able to get through).

With regards to their remap then, what else is included in the price?  The impression I got is that they fit the VWR panel filter as well.  How would this compare with having a carbonio (or any other) intake + remap?  What would be the better option?

Think you will still need to get a CAI they come up on the for sale section quite often.
Ask Mat sure he will advise the best option.

Yes, I think I will ask Matt and see what he says when I see him - just to add to the list of questions.  I've made another purchase today, which I totally forgot about - the revised diverter valve (rev D).  I don't think there's anything wrong with the current one but would be best to change it especially after the remap.  Roll on next week

To be honest, the thought of replacing myself didn't even cross my mind :scared:

Is it an easy job for someone with no experience?
