Stereo wiring help
« on: February 01, 2021, 01:57:46 pm »
Hi everyone, is anyone good with stereos/wiring? Have a mk5 gti that came with a good stereo (Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB) the guy who sold me it said it just needs an ISO harness

So I bought the harness, plugged it in but no power whatsoever to the stereo. I've tested and getting 12V from the car side so guessing it must be the head unit itself unless there is something else that could stop it powering on. Here are some pics, sorry they are not the best.

Check the fuse on the back of the headunit, it might have blown.
Are you getting 12v at the end of the aftermarket harness, or did you measure it at the factory connector end?

Also, what's going on at those white connectors?

Thanks, i think the bit round the white connectors is just some old wiring. Turns out i do in fact have 12v at the end of the harness on both red and yellow (live & switch live) and also the fuse is good on the stereo. Looks like a faulty unit then :-( going to have it bench tested on Friday, would hate to bin a £400 head unit but suppose if it's broken its not a £400 head unit!
