ive averaged 45mpg over a full tank before when driving from Wankum(the last shell station before leaving germny) and i never refilled had to refil just before honiton on the A303. that was about 580-600 miles.

was a night drive with zero traffic, and car was on cruise control @70mph, running shell vpower 100racing and bluefin stage 1.

its the one and only time have managed it.  i nomally get drastically less than that

Driving at 56mph on the motorway with cruise control on, I've averaged 45mpg. But it's no fun!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

True story.

I drove to Jays in Accrington today and didn't exceed 70mph the whole way.
I've never been overtaken by so much in my life. I think even the Artics fancied giving it a go.

42.8mpg on a 350 mile round trip though  3/4 of a £62 tank I thought wasn't too bad. Hate being raped into lane one all the time though!

Always (nearly) a DSG that gets the better fuel consumption.

Regularly get mid to high 30's mixed driving. Never seen 40's!!!

Outlaws have moved to Lincoln so new target on the long motorway run.
No Golf anymore.
Enjoyed the last five years of ownership of Mk5 & 6 GTIs.
Plus an excellent forum for knowledge and new ways to deplete the bank account.
Thank You Everyone.

Motorway trip. Cruise on. All toys off. Very boring. I normally am lucky to get 300 milesfrom a tank in my daily stop start commute.

Hit about 43 on that journey but only got a photo of this.

Managed to hit 40.0 today as a matter of fact on a road doing a steady 50.  Wasn't that boring either as the road was quite an interesting one to drive.

Normally only see about 25 on the commute  :sad1:

My old work run (walthamstow to lewisham) 13 miles from north to south london. I can get 30mpg but i would give anyone with an R32 £10 if they manage not to floor it through the blackwall tunnel with their windows down  :signLOL:
