Hard start
« on: November 02, 2020, 07:31:51 am »
2006 fsi engine.

Ive been having hard time starting up my engine lately as if i have a weak battery. At first I thought it was a weak battery but battery is fine holding 14v. I read somewhere that if i leave ignition on acc for about 10sec then off then try and start it does start normally most times. I scanned for codes nothing engine related pops up. Half the time when i start normally engine doesn’t crank and steering wheel light pops up too but goes away as i drive.

Any help appreciated

It may be the fuelpump. Do you hear the fuel pump buzzing when opening the drivers door? If it doesn't function properly, it can create issues  like that.
Otherwise if your car is high mileage it can have to do with carbon build up inside the engine as well.
For how long is it cranking? Same in the summer as in winter? Does it start normally when engine is warmed up?
