Is it non sunroof models that are more affected????

Does seem that way? Not seen a sunroof model effected.

Mines an 08 plate 5 door no sunroof 88000 miles sagging around sunglasses holder haven't got any prices yet due to current situation as lock down lifts am going to get price to retrim

Very common on cars over 6 years old here in Hong Kong where it reaches 40°C in summer and inside the car we'll into  60~70°C temps if parked on the street.

Crazy the amount of mk5’s affected by this , I wonder if mk6’s are the same or if the managed to solve the issue , talking of mk6’s does anybody know if a mk6 headliner will fit the mk5

MK6 have the same issues... no idea if MK6 liner will fit the MK5 though.

I sold mine with 126,000 on it and head lining was still perfect.

My cousin bought a R32 Japan import with no sunroof & it ain't got the original headlining looks like someone retrim it themselves with felt material. I'm guessing it must be down to weather climate heat inside the car to why they sag

I would bet the non sagging cars are the lighter paint colours.

Also depends of the vehicle life... hot locations on summer kill it... also the door panels on MK5
