So the solution that I decided upon was to buy one of those cheap enclosed air filters on eBay for £23 in the hope that the enclosed nature of the product vs the open foam filter of the RamAir would muffle the noises. It worked brilliantly !!! The noises have been reduced by I would say around 70% and now it is actually quite pleasant hearing the softer noises of the intake and exhale of the turbo de-spooling.

Do you have a link to what you have bought from ebay?

The GTi I bought has a ram filter setup (not sure if its the 70mm or 90mm) but as with yours makes whooshing noise which was fun at first but now is something I want to try to reduce.

Waiting to get the car on a dyno so see if it has been mapped and if the air intake is needed otherwise I might go back to standard if I can't get rid of the excess noise.
