GTI Seat raiser inserts - my different approach (I think!)
« on: March 28, 2010, 11:44:29 am »
Well, I found a set of nice "GTI" inserts on GolfGTI.co.uk - thanks to Makaveli   :happy2:

As soon as they arrived, I set to installing them - went a bit nerdy on them tbh, but I pretty happy with the results.

Cleaned up the housing first - despite my keeping the car UBER clean, it's amazing how bad this gets.....

I'd already cleaned up the metal inserts.

I didn't want to go with the red duct tape or resin option..... so I did this instead....

Yes, I know the car seats need a vacuum

But I'm quite happy with the results - pretty subtle I think

Any comments?

Dan (also posted on golfgti.co.uk - but I know some don't go on there)

Thanks,

I used super-sticky foam pads - this has also raised them up about 1mm, so I get a shadow on them (you can't really see it in the pics!)

He's put some kind of patterned wallpaper underneath. I think!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

yep. Been to B&Q for some wallpaper. Looks so much better.

Bit of a sod to get the paste to stick in such a small area though. :rolleye:

yeh bad light/poor photographer

It's some carbon fibre sheet.

ETTO -  I like it though  :happy2: or have I committed VW sacrilege by not using red?  :scared:

Mine has Black underneath rather then red.

Red tends to faid after a while and looks pants.

Nice idea with the CF wrap :happy2:
