Remove rear window rearmost black gloss trim
« on: March 29, 2021, 09:49:10 am »
Does anyone know how to remove the rear gloss black vertical window trim on a 5 door?

I've seen how to guides for the B pillar trims between the front and rear doors, bit I need to remove the thinner one on the back door. Mine is rusting so want to replace or paint it.

I am also doing this soon on my 5 door MK5 GTI.

The research ive done so far.

Part NO: 1K6839407F041 bright black (unique to the GTI Glossy) seems the rest of the MK5s are matt black. £43 new.

You need to remove the outer door skin. Possibly the glass im unsure.

Pretty much all the GTIs I've messaged about that are being broken for parts are similar. So best to get new part. If you paint it... you will need to do the other door to match.

Its not hard to remove the door panel at all or access the parts we mention. Its just the static glass im unsure of currently.
