Has anyone had the AC condenser replaced recently? Just wondering what it would roughly cost at an indie

Then fair bit of labour as the whole bumper and crash bar has to be removed - best ring around get some quotes.

Having mine replaced by VW at the moment as well as the compressor and a regas. I've been quoted 4-5 hours labour plus regas cost.

For reference, the auto electrician that I was going to have do the job was only marginally cheaper so I decided to let VW do it instead.

The bumper does not need to be removed.  I replace my compressor with a new one and also replaced the dryer which gets overlooked on my driveway without issue.

I had a friend empty prior to work and then refill with gas after.

This is the CONDENSER not the COMPRESSOR.

I replaced my ac condenser with a genuine one from tps after trying 2 different ones from euro car parts but they wouldnt fit unless i kinked the pipes at the drivers side. Really bad fitment. The genuine one went straight on. Would have to check my receipt to how much it was but off the top of my head think it was around £350.

Indeed.  Not that bad a job tbh.  Bumper skin comes off pretty easily and then it's just bolts and screws.

FWIW, the OEM condensor is a lot better than the aftermarket ones.

And for the compressor for anyone who needs one: P/N 1K0820808F, made by SANDEN.  £800ish from VW.

Worth changing the receiver/drier whilst you're there and also the prone to failure pressure switch.

Not a cheap game keeping cool.

What brand is the ac receiver/drier?

Were you able to reach up through the bottom to replace the receiver drier then? Trying to find some DIY video/guides doing it this way and struggling.

Cheers
