That Japanese GTI Wagon ! BIG UPDATE
« on: July 08, 2021, 08:46:28 pm »
Hi Everyone !

Been a very long time since I posted in here but I’ve come back to a mk5 after some other builds ! You may remember one of them atleast , I built the UKs first Fahrenheit GTI ! Not sure where it is now but hoping somome is still caring for it !

Anyway , I currently drive a mk4 caddy but wanted somthing quick for ages now and managed to Source a 2008 Golf estate but with a little surprise ! It’s a 2.0tfsi 😎

Anyway I’ve done a few bits already the last week , I’ll let the pics to do the talking but the vibe I’m going for is an OEM+ gti wagon !

Full ED30 front bumper
Smooth grille
12x6 jap plate
Full mk6 gti interior
Mk6 cherry red rear lights
Discover media headunit
BBS CH-R 19x8.5

How I picked her up on Wednesday

How she currently sits

Interior 🔥

Re: That Japanese GTI Wagon ! BIG UPDATES

Hi everyone , not posted for a bit as been busy on the wagon so here’s a nice little update for you !

Firstly I sourced a genuine Votex rear wing from the US , super rare and it’s been painted tomorrow but a little trial fit and it looks perfect!

They don’t do a black headlining for the estate so I sourced a hatch one and used what parts I could and dyed the rest and again it’s turned out really well , I just need to paint one last part that wouldn’t transfer from the hatch . Felt the cream really let down the interior look …

Next up I fitted some GTI pedals , foot rest and seat inserts

Next was a pretty big one

Sourced some 3D scirocco highline clocks from a 2018 model , flat bottom wheel , discover media pro , mk6 climate panel and cherry red hazard switch to really bring the interior up to date

Fitted my racing line 365mm 6 pot big brake kit and TTRS 310mm rears

Also fitted 3” decat down pipe , evoms induction kit and trimmed the engine cover to suit

Had the CH-R powder coated in satin bronze

Thanks for looking :)

Looks tip top inside and out  :happy2:

Seen a few people fitting newer style clocks and steering wheel, is there a lot involved to fit/get it working properly?

Looking nice, very good upgrades on that variant.

I'm always asking the same.. what about the brake pedal feel with the new calipers? Because I hate the OEM pedal feel on my MK5 as it is too soft and I'm used to the modern VAG's.

I recently had EBC orange stuff race pads and a fluid change to 5.1 and my pedal is quite firm now compared to what it was, brakes are strong for stock 312s.

Good to know and thank's for sharing I'm also stock 312 with a standard BOSCH PADS, brake steel lines and ATE  DOT 4.0 Performance and dosen't work for me.

Really like the idea of a GTI estate. Seems to suit the styling of the body.

I think I’d do mine completely OEM on the outside, even down to things like 18” Monza wheels.
