Above Mk7 one looks great. Any cheaper options for dsg? Didn't realise they were so expensive.
Edit : Just seen you can retrofit a Mk6 gear knob to the mk5, so this could be an option. The base and gaiter on mine are good condition it's just the leather on the knob that's wearing! So could I just take this off and screw on a Mk6 knob?
Yeah, not as inexpensive for the DSG as the manuals are. But easy enough to swap.
Do yourself a favor and first watch a few MK5 gear shift replacement vids.
Using an interior trim tool, the gaiter frame is popped up. First along the edge at the arrows and working forward. The gear-select wiring is then disconnected. Then release the knob lock, I believe, by pushing it upward (downward should be to lock it on). Pulling the knob off sometimes is difficult as it can be or feel locked on and requires some forceful maneuvering. This is why you disconnect the gear-select wires first.
