Still just on Cylinder 1? If it's a persistent miss on just one cylinder that smoothes out with more revs/load, I can almost guarantee it's a bad squirter
Unfortunately they are a service item on all DI engines, not just the GTI.
There really isn't anything else about these engines that can cause a misfire like that. Plugs and coils are reliable and they're also not known for bad valve seat or guide wear. The latter causes more of a 'rough' idle in general that isn't stored as a misfire code. That's just old age and/or wear and tear.
The reason folk are in denial about the injectors is because of A) the cost and fitment faff, and B) not fully appreciating their arduous operating conditions, which inevitably f'cks them up over time
Anyway, sling it into R-Tech and let them do their shizz on it
