faulty ignition
« on: August 27, 2021, 06:38:29 pm »
recently i've been having trouble turning the key in the ignition. it's not the usual steering lock, turning the wheel doesn't fix the problem. doing research it looks like the ignition lock cylinder or ignition switch are bad. i don't notice any damage on the key, and it has no problem fitting into the exterior lock on the driver's door handle. does anyone have any experience with this problem?

Not experienced it on a Mk5 - but the part that fails is deeper into the steering column behind the key way part.
They tend to be really awkward to change as its you cars security there will likely be shear head bolts.
