How accurate is the trip computers average mpg ... ? just completed a mostly motorway journey of 985 miles at 38.5mpg avg ....

If you brimmed your tank before and after, then it should be easy to compare. I would imagine it is 90-95% correct given that the journey was so long with fewer variables such as stop start / running cold etc. These cars are actually quite economical on a long run if you don’t use too much boost.

I use a spreadsheet and record my figures. Yes it's sad but I've found the onboard trip computer to be reasonably accurate.

I've managed 40mpg but that was pretty much 60mph along the whole journey. No overtaking.
70mph gets me around 30-35mg (with overtaking).

I would say this is pretty accurate.

Doing 70-90 I averaged 31.4MPG on a 250+ round trip and my tyre pressures up front were a little low.

40MPG or close to @60MPH or so definitely sounds pretty accurate.

i clocked mine for a full tank and found it to be +/-2 mpg accurate which is good enough for me

If you are driving like a regular person, it is pretty accurate
