How do I fit bi-xenons
« on: November 03, 2021, 10:05:52 am »
Hi everyone

I'm am really stuck here. I have heard so much stuff and I'm not sure what I really need to do to get this to work.

I want to swap the lights out for bi xenon and I want them to work properly.

Should I buy used oem or just buy regular ones from online?

I do not need the washers.

Can I just plug them straight in with the adapter?
Do I need auto leveling?
Apparently I need to code on vagcom. Is that true? What needs to be coded in and why?

Aside from these points is there anything else I need to do.

I love the look of the xenon xenon really do want to fit them on my car but I just want them to work properly as well as full beam.

You will need to fit the headlamp units, which are a like for like swap.
The wiring is different 14-pin on the Xenons vs 10-pin on the standard headlamps.
Auto-leveling requires hardware to be added to the rear suspension plus the associated wiring. Also the Xenons follow the direction which the car is turned into.
These two features will require a controller & VAGCOM coding if you want to defeat these features.

Ok thank you. Do they have to have auto leveling? Not really sure how to fit that.

I fitted xenons and bought a kufatec adaptor from ebay to connect the xenon wiring to the car wiring.

I didn't need to use vagcom/vcds to get my new lights working.

I looking into the parts to get the auto leveling to work but decided it was too much hassle.

If you have no warning lights on the dash, then you are done!

Hi, I fitted OEM Bi xenons, ran them for a while, then added the headlight washing system, and then eventually the Auto levelling System (Which allows the shutter in the lights to open fully, and let the full brightness of the bulb out) From what i understand with UK MOT, You can have xenons with no washers or levelling, But if either systems are fitted they have to be fully working to pass an MOT.
I would advise a Vag-Com scan there are options for the types of lights fitted ie- Halogen, Bi xenons without shutters enabled and Bi xenons with shutters.

Have Fun :happy2:

Correct - a lot of people seem to misinterpret "if fitted" for "must be fitted"
You can install Xenons without washers or leveling and still pass MOT... but as you already posted there is advantages for getting everything up and running.
